Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and efficient Supermarket Cashier to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing transactions accurately and efficiently while providing excellent customer service. You will be the face of our store, and as such, you must be friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about our products and services.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers as they approach the checkout area
- Scan items, weigh produce, and process payments accurately and efficiently
- Answer customer questions regarding products, prices, and store policies
- Keep the checkout area clean and organized
- Handle returns and exchanges according to store policies
- Manage cash and credit card transactions and balance the till at the end of each shift
- Follow security and safety procedures to prevent theft and loss
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the store runs smoothly
Requirements:
- National Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a customer service role preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic math and computer skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays (Morning shifts: 7:30am – 4pm, Afternoon shifts: 2pm-10pm, Sundays : 11:30am – 10pm)
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Professional and friendly demeanor
